Collective Purpose

Unlike the Planning Team, positions on the Event Team are given to individuals on a temporary basis, for a single CTP event only. While the Planning Team makes decisions, the Event Team’s role is to actually execute those decisions and directly orchestrate the work of planning and executing the event. Individuals on the Event Team work with the relevant members of the Planning Team to achieve the planning goals.

Communications Team - Matteo Ferraroni, Euan Hay, Luke Thompson

The Communications Team works directly with the Communications Lead (from the Planning Team) on communications and marketing related duties, as assigned by the lead.

EMEA Routes Team - Lukas Agerskov, Cedric Mohler, Thomas Merle, Alvaro Ruiz

Members of the EMEA Routes Team work directly with the EMEA Routes Lead (from the Planning Team) to coordinate route planning amongst all facilities within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa Region.

AMAS Routes Team - Alex Ying, Mark Walsh, Dhagash Kapadia, Simon Ramirez

Members of the AMAS Routes Team work directly with the AMAS Routes Lead (from the Planning Team) to coordinate route planning amongst all facilities within the Americas region.

Data & Logistics Team - Ian Weatherford, Joel Morin, Felix Boehler

The Data & Logistics Team works directly with the Data & Logistics Lead (from the Planning Team), on various duties as assigned.

Pilot Training & Outreach Lead - Evan Reiter

The Pilot Training & Outreach Lead is the only position on the Event Team which is solely responsible for their work. They are supported and guided by the Communications Lead, but work primarily on their own to develop training videos/seminars, documentation, and/or guides to help pilots navigate the complexities of our transatlantic event.

Coordinators’ Assistants - Felix Boehler, Daniel Rechberger

The Coordinator’s Assistant assists the Coordinator with various task tracking, documentation, and miscellaneous other duties which either fall directly to the Coordinator, or do not fall under the purview of other Planning Team or Event Team roles. Various additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator.

Oceanic Training Assistant - George Qiu

The Oceanic Training Assistant develops and conducts CTP-specific oceanic controller briefings, and pilot briefings, in collaboration with the UK and Canada Divisions. Additionally, this individual is typically responsible for arranging (or providing) all required network and simulator training for newly recruited controllers. This role may also be delegated various additional oceanic responsibilities from the Oceanic Lead, on an as-needed basis.

Oceanic Operations Assistant - Ameya Nori

The Oceanic Operations Assistant’s primary function is to operate the Gander/Shanwick “coordinator” position on the oceanic roster. This involves overseeing development of the EuroScope oceanic controller pack, supporting the oceanic controllers by coordinating with all bordering domestic and oceanic ATC facilities regarding airspace configuration, sectorization, frequencies, and real-time changes thereof, as well as ensuring smooth oceanic shift changes (and troubleshooting when relieving controllers will not arrive on time), and monitoring controller workload. The Oceanic Operations Assistant is typically not directly involved with the planning done by the Oceanic Training Assistant, although the two will coordinate to ensure the training being delivered aligns with the operational plan for event day.

Oceanic Wrangler - Jamie Kilkoyne

The Oceanic Wrangler recruits new controller candidates for oceanic training, coordinates with VATSIM UK and the Oceanic Training Assistant regarding their training, and actively tracks/monitors each trainee’s progress through the training process. They also build the Gander/Shanwick rosters, in coordination with VATUK (Shanwick) and VATCAN (Gander). They are further responsible for coordinating with rostered controllers and other divisions with which those controllers are also rostered during CTP, in order to ensure accuracy of the controller availability data used to assign oceanic shifts.
